Ernest Torres Sr., 69 , died Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home. He was born July 7, 1948 in El Campo, Texas the son of Lionicio and Mary (Janas) Torres. He married Josie Rubio on August 15, 1964. She died July 17, 2009. Later he married Teresa Lopez on April 1, 2011. She survives.

He was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather. Mr. Torres will be remembered for his kind giving spirit. He lived his life to serve his Lord and his family takes comfort in the knowledge that he has joined Him in His kingdom. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Torres; children, Ernest Torres, Jr., Elizabeth (Filemon) Ponce; Glenda Ledesma, Alicia (Ascension Jr.) Duran, Isaac (Cristina) Torres, Nelson (Yadira) De La Cruz, Cendy (Leonard) Morcillo, & Abigail (Carlos) Mendoza; 24 Grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren & numerous siblings, nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; son- Moses Torres and numerous siblings.

A Vigil Service will be held Monday May 21, 2018 at 6:00 pm at The Church of God of the Firstborn, 2909 W. Mary Street. Friends may call from 1:00 – 8:00 pm on Sunday May 20, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS and Monday May 21, from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm at The Church of God the Firstborn. Funeral Service will be Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 10:00 am also at The Church of God of the Firstborn, 2909 W. Mary Street, with Pastor John Janas officiating.
