Obituary for Sharon L. Brewer

Sharon L. Brewer, 80, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at her home in Garden City. She was born May 16, 1938 in Norwich, Kansas the daughter of Leonard & Ina Veeta (Brumley) Brooks.
Sharon grew up in Norwich, attended school there, and graduated from Norwich High School in 1956. On October 4, 1958, she married J.D. Brewer in Milton, Kansas. They moved to Garden City in 1967 and have lived in Garden City since. A homemaker, Sharon also worked as an administrative assistant for USD #457. She was a member of the Garden City Church of Christ, the Sweet Adeline’s, and Sorosis Mother’s Club. She loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include three children Debra & husband Rod Yoder of Dodge City, John & wife Kim Brewer of Garden City, and Susan & husband Dave Pfenninger of Garden City; 6 Grandchildren; and 3 Great-Grandchildren. Sharon is preceded in death by her husband J.D. who died on June 2, 2012. She is also preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Garden City Church of Christ with Pastor Darrell Rains officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Eden Cemetery in Milton, Kansas. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to Meals On Wheels or to St. Catherine hospice both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
