Obituary for Raymond C. Hammond Jr.

Raymond C. Hammond, Jr., 67, died Saturday, October 20, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born April 20, 1951 in Pueblo, Colorado.
Raymond grew up in Johnson, Kansas where he attended school. He graduated from Stanton County High School in 1969. He then attended and Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business management from Panhandle State University in 1973. He then moved to Garden City where he has lived since. Raymond worked as manager of Orscheln Farm & Home for 38 years retiring in 2011. After his retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher for USD #457. He enjoyed traveling, driving and he loved attending all of his grandchildren’s activities.
On June 14, 1970, he married Linda J. Herron in Johnson, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include four sons Marvin & wife Dana Hammond of Liberal, Ks, Travis & wife Stephanie Hammond of Holcomb, Ks, Brandon & wife Delaina Hammond of Holcomb, Ks, & Darrin & wife Dava Hammond of Dighton, Ks; a brother James Sims of Ft. Worth, Tx; and eight Grandchildren Chayli Hammond, Cody Hammond, Kaitlynn Hammond, Kyle Hammond, Morgan Hammond, Beau Hammond, Laney Hammond, & Makay Hammond. Raymond is preceded in death by his father Raymond C. Hammond, Sr. and his Grandmother Gladys Hammond.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City with Pastor Darrin Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the family to help with Raymond's Grandchildren's education in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
