Obituary for Bertha A. Holzworth (Ball)

Bertha A. Holzworth (Ball), 78, died Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born December 7, 1939 in Plains, Kansas the daughter of W.E. & Mary (Davis) Beckman.
Bertha grew up in Plains, Kansas, attended school there and graduated from high school in 1957. She then attended and graduated from Central Business College in Denver, Colorado. A long time resident of Loveland, Colorado, Bertha has lived in Garden City since. 2017. She was a graphics designer for Qwest. Bertha enjoyed gardening, volunteering, traveling, her church activities, and playing cards. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City, St. John Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado, the Salvation Army, CCW, and Jesus Our Hope Hermitage.
On December 20, 1958, she married William G. Holzworth in Pratt, Kansas. He died on January 23, 2008. She later married Darryl Ball on July 14, 2017 in Loveland, Colorado. He survives. Other survivors include 4 children Chris R. Holzworth of Loveland, CO, Merinda M. Bennett of Loveland, CO, Brenda (Coy) Johnson of Dalhart, TX, & Charie (Kevin) Triplett of Garden City, KS; 3 siblings Lucy Bromwell of Plains, KS, Jim (Rhonda) Beckman of Clinton, MO, & Ken (Geneva) Beckman of Pratt, KS; 4 grandchildren Joslyn Bennett, Ryan Bennett, Jessica (Carl) Bunch, & Brian Johnson; and 1 great-grandchild Shawn Bunch. Bertha is preceded in death by her first husband William; her parents; a daughter Melissa Holzworth; a son Marvin Ball; and a brother Rod Beckman.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. MT with Funeral Mass following at 10:30 a.m. MT on Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to St. Dominic Catholic Church or to Jesus Our Hope Hermitage both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
