Maria del Carmen Rivera Blanco, 70 died on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on October 3, 1938 in Mexico, the daughter of Augustin and Concepcion (Blanco) Rivera.

Maria was born and raised in Mexico where she attended school. She married Roberto Arzate Martinez, they where married for more then 25 years. While in Mexico Maria owned and operated her restaurant for more then 40 years. In 2007 Maria moved to Garden City, Kansas. A very hard working woman that did anything for her children to live a better life, she was a very happy person, that loved talking and helping people. She enjoyed cooking, perfumes, she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include twelve children Marcos, Irma, Roberto, Daniel, Miguel, Angel, Carmen, Raymundo, Martha Esther, Sara Alicia, Gregorio, and Sarita Arzate Rivera; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held at a later date in Mexico. The family request memorials be given to Maria Rivera Blanco Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden City, KS 67846.
