Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 02, 2009 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 03, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Wayne Flanders officiating.
Interment: Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas with burial rites conducted by Eastern Star #471.

Ethel L. Lock, age 89, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born February 05, 1920 in Barton County Kansas, the daughter of William and Pauline (Lebsack) Brack.

Ethel attended District 81, Haig school and graduated from Otis High School in Otis, Kansas. A resident of Ulysses, Kansas for 55 years, she was a homemaker, an excellent cook and loved to prepare meals for friends and family. She was dedicated to researching her family ancestry, and particularly enjoyed helping others find family members. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, a life member of American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star of Ulysses, Past Mother Advisor for the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Ulysses, and Girl Scout Leader. Ethel married Fred Lock on September 4, 1938 in Great Bend, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include one son, Ross Lock of Ft. Collins, Colorado; two daughters, Susan Wheeler and husband Dennis of Arkansas City, Kansas, Connie Flohr and husband J R of Ulysses, Kansas; five grandsons, and ten great-grandchildren.

Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Vernon Orval Brack and Willis Lee Brack.
