LeRoy J. Rupp, 68 of Garden City, Kansas died on Thursday, October 08, 2009 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born December 18, 1940 in Garden City, Kansas the son of John Frank and Rose "Rosie" Magdalen (Brungardt) Rupp. |
LeRoy grew up on a Garden City Company sugar beet farm North of Holcomb, Kansas. He attended Holcomb schools and graduated from Holcomb High School in 1959. While in high school, LeRoy excelled in basketball, baseball, and track. He worked for the Garden City Co-op in bulk delivery and later for Garden City Farm Equipment. From 1985 to 2003, LeRoy worked as store manager at Deerfield Ag. From 2003 to 2009, LeRoy has worked as store manager at Witzel & Rhea Implement (now known as Ag Power) in Goodland, Kansas. LeRoy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City where he also sang in the adult choir. He was a member of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Goodland, Kansas, the Broncbuster Athletic Association, and he was very active in playing and coaching softball in Garden City. |
On August 27, 1960, LeRoy married Dorothy Marie Bedker. LeRoy later married Levita "Barbara" Rohlman on November 29, 2008 in Garden City, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Russell Rupp of Topeka, Kansas, Timothy "Tim" Rupp of Kansas City, Missouri and Jeffrey "Jeff" Rupp of Ordway, Colorado; two daughters, Lora Showalter of Wentzville, Missouri and Georgia Prince of Wentzville, Missouri; four brothers, Robert Rupp of Holcomb, Kansas, Larry Rupp of Wichita, Kansas, Alan Rupp of Oakley, Kansas and Johnny Rupp of Holcomb, Kansas; three sisters, Juanita Walck of Holcomb, Kansas, Arlene Rowley of Holcomb, Kansas and Ruth Jackson of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. LeRoy is preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy, who died on October 2, 2004. He is also preceded in death by his parents. |
