Graveside Service: 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas.
Interment: Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas with graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post #3684 of Johnson, Kansas.

Amos Cott, age 88, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born October 20, 1920 in Moscow, Kansas to Montgomery Wood and Lizzie Jane (Gray) Cott.

Amos moved from Moscow to Manter at a young age and graduated from Manter High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in North Africa and France. He returned to Manter after his discharge and worked for area farmers. On July 27, 1947 he married Willa Kathleen Barber in Ulysses, Kansas. In 1959 he moved to the Plymell community in Finney county and in 1964 moved into Garden City. In Garden City he went to work for Garden City Co-op and worked in the feed mill, drove a propane truck and the railroad department. After retiring from the co-op he worked for Westlake Hardware. Amos was a past boy scout leader and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards with his grandchildren and especially in his later years building wood crafts.

Survivors include his wife, Willa Cott of the home; two daughters, LaDonna Esnhaur and husband Doug of Norwich, Kansas, Venita Cott of Garden City, Kansas; one brother, Wood Cott of Johnson, Kansas; six grandchildren, Michael Cott, Kathleen Eshnaur, Stacey Cott, Abigail Eshnaur, Jonathan Eshnaur, William Cott; five great-grandchildren, Marshall Cott, Leah Cott, Ember Cott, Kristen Elton, Sierra Cott; and one great-great-grandchild, Kasson Elton.

Amos is preceded in death by his parents, one son Rodney Cott; four brothers, Thomas Cott, Boyd Cott, Homer Cott and Hugh Cott; and three sisters; June Bearce, Mary Cox and May Graham.

The family requests memorial contributions be given to the Boy Scouts of America in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden City, KS 67846.
