Maria Martinez Gonzalez, 69, of Garden City, Kansas died on Monday, October 26, 2009 at her home in Garden City. She was born on December 19, 1939 in Guerrero, Mexico the daughter of Juventino Martinez and Adelaida Gonzalez.

Maria was born and raised in Guerrero, Mexico. In 1954 Maria married Eulofio Figueroa in Petatlan Guerrero, Mexico. She was a homemaker and also raised farm animals and sold homemade goods. Maria enjoyed traveling to California to visit her daughter. In 2002 she moved to Juarez, Mexico and in 2003 she moved to Garden City, Kansas, where she remained. Maria enjoyed selling homemade goods, cooking, and watching her grandchildren. A very strict and strong woman that loved and protected everyone in her family.

Survivors include six sons, Ernesto Figueroa of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, Jose Figueroa of Tacoma, Washington, Pablo Figueroa of D.F., Mexico, Abel Figueroa of Guanajuato, Mexico, Mario Figueroa of North Carolina and Oscar Munoz of Garden City, Kansas; three daughters, Adalbertha Figueroa, Teresa Munoz and Evelia Munoz all of Garden City, Kansas; 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
