Interment: Ulysses Cemetery with military rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. |
Phillip W. Hampton, age 62, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at his home in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born March 8, 1947 at Garden City, Kansas, the son of Robert Wade and Della Arlene (Lahey) Hampton.

Phillip graduated from Ulysses High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Barbara Ford on September 4, 1979 in Lakin, Kansas. He worked for Jim Wilson Crane, worked on the family farm with his Dad, was a truck driver and a bricklayer. Phillip loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed gardening, and was a very creative cook and barbecued a mean steak. |
Survivors include two sons, Eric Hampton and Zeb Hampton both of Hutchinson, Kansas; four daughters, Alesha Hampton of Garden City, Kansas, Nicolette Hampton of Ulysses, Kansas, Cheyene Hampton of Garden City, Kansas, Destiney Contreras of Jacksonville, North Carolina; his mother, Arlene Hampton of Ulysses, Kansas; two brothers, Kenneth Hampton and Lyle Hampton both of Ulysses, Kansas; and eight grandchildren. |
Phillip is preceded in death by his father. |
