Charles Walter Murray, age 83, of Elkhart, Kansas died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born September 13, 1926 in Paris, Texas the son of Jess R. and Jeanie (Ford) Murray. |
Charles, a lifelong resident of Elkhart, attended Elkhart High School and retired from the retail business and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married Carnnie Imogene Landess on October 13, 1944 in Dodge City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2006.
He belonged to the First Baptist Church in Elkhart.

Survivors include one son, Charles Craig Murray and wife Stephanie of Elkhart, Kansas; three daughters, Sharla Bentley and husband Wayne, Debbie Nease and husband Dawn, and Terri Houtz and husband John all of Elkhart, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Brandi Gibson and husband Heath of Elkhart, Kansas, Greg Bentley of Elkhart, Kansas, Ben Murray and wife Angela of Norfolk, Virginia, Jason Nease of Memphis, Tennessee, Seth Nease of Denver, Colorado, Will Murray of Amarillo, Texas, Abbey Nease, Mollie Houtz, and Murray Houtz all of Elkhart, Kansas; four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Kenzi, and Kennedy Gibson, of Elkhart, Kansas, and Mia Murray of Norfolk, Virginia. |
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Hershel Murray. |
