Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Hugoton Assembly of God Church in Hugoton with Pastor Ben Coats and President David Madsen officiating.
Interment: Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, Kansas.

Pearl Ilene Johnson, age 86, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton, Kansas. She was born May 08, 1923 in Stevens County, Kansas, the daughter of Guy F. and Pearl E. (Ramsey) McClure.

Pearl graduated from Hugoton High School. She attended St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School in Wichita, Kansas and worked as a registered nurse in Hugoton for 42 years. Pearl married Therman Johnson on July 25, 1945 in Hugoton, Kansas. She was currently licensed as a registered nurse and was known as the unofficial visiting nurse. Pearl helped start the Shares and Wick programs in Hugoton. She was a veteran of the Nurse Cadet Corps and worked in New Orleans in the Marine Hospital during World War II. Pearl enjoyed eating out, dancing, traveling, crocheting, gardening, working in the yard, shoveling snow, genealogy, and helping other people. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, served on the Stevens County Medical Foundation Board, a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Hugoton Rebekah Lodge #379 with a degree of chivalry, a member of LEA, a former member of LAPM, and a current member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hugoton.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Johnson of Birmingham, Alabama; two daughters, Mary Coker and husband Ben of Moore, Oklahoma, Therlene Kindsvater of Hugoton, Kansas; one sister, Pauline Wulfemeyer of Hugoton; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons, and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Dock McClure, and two grandsons, Jason Kossuth and Jeffery Kossuth.
