Andres J. Gallardo Sr. 67, of Ulysses, Kansas died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on November 10, 1941 in Durango, Mexico the son of Alejandro and Dominga (Juares) Gallardo. |
Andres was born in Mexico, as a child his family relocated to Texas where they all worked in the crop fields. At the age of 19, Andres moved to Deerfield where he worked on irrigation wells for The Garden City Company. On December 30, 1960 he married Neva Gallardo, they relocated to Garden City. While in Garden City he worked for Farmland Beef, Kansas Beef and Monfort Beef. In 2001 Andres moved to Ulysses, Kansas and began working for the City of Ulysses. He remained in Ulysses. Andres was a kind and loving man that enjoyed watching western movies, listening to Mexican music and spending time with his grandchildren. |
Survivors include two daughters, Gina Cavasos of Ulysses, Kansas and Susan Romo of Stockton, Kansas; eight brothers, Miguel Gallardo of Texas, Tiofilo Gallardo of Garden City, Kansas, Nicholas Gallardo of Garden City, Kansas, Alex Gallardo of Garden City, Kansas, Pedro Gallardo of North Carolina, Jose Gallardo of Garden City, Kansas and Arturo Gallardo of Florida; three sisters, Antonia Laurelez, Mauricia Hermocillo and Pricilla Ibarra all of Garden City, Kansas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. |
He was preceded in death by a son Andrew Gallardo Jr., his parents, a brother Herman Gallardo, and two grandchildren Jesus Mathew and Angelo Cavasos. |
