Kathryn Jane Eddie, age 76, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born September 28, 1933 in Grant County, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Bessie Ella (Richardson) Bangs.

Jane has been a resident of Ulysses all her life. She married Donald Lee Eddie on March 21, 1949 in Clayton, New Mexico. She owned Jane’s Roller Rink, Bounty West and Started Peddler’s Inn Motel and Restaurant. She also owned and operated a number of restaurants. Jane was known for her crafts, antiques, sewing and paintings.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Eddie and wife Paula of Cornwall, New York, Scott Eddie and wife Rhonda of Tombstone, Arizona; two daughters, Floydean Bender and husband Blane of Pratt, Kansas, GeJuan Martin and husband Dennis of Ulysses, Kansas; sister, Peggy Tarbet of Ulysses, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don on January 21, 1991, sons Tim and Donald, brother Merle Bangs, Helen Foresman, and grandson Adam Christopher Eddie.

A private family memorial graveside service will be held at the Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Denver Children’s Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
