Dorothy Mae Bane, age 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, November 9, 2009 at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton, Kansas. She was born July 2, 1929 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Baird Sr. and Naomi Veatch (Lewis) Moran. |
Dorothy graduated from Joliet High School in Joliet, Illinois. She attended Cincinnati Christian College, and received a Bachelor of Arts from Lincoln Christian College and Seminary. Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Oklahoma City University, she taught second grade for two years in Oklahoma City. Dorothy married Gordon Bane on August 25, 1959, in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Hugoton where Dorothy was a loving homemaker. Her relationship with Jesus was first and foremost in her life. A member of First Christian Church in Hugoton, she faithfully served the Lord in many women’s and children’s ministries, including teaching in the Primary and Junior Church departments, Jet Cadets, Bible Bowl, VBS, and Ashland Christian Service Camp. She was also a member of Nautilus Women’s Club. After their daughters were raised, she worked at the Hugoton Hermes newspaper. Dorothy enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, and visiting grandchildren often. She also loved music and nurtured this same love in their girls. |
Survivors include her husband Gordon of the home; two daughters, Debra O’Neal and husband Randy of Bentley, Kansas, Donna Willoughby and husband Marc of Sedgwick, Kansas; one brother, Donald Baird Moran Jr. and wife Joyce of Fairbury, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Keifer, Kyler, Kaden, Keaton, Konnor, Kason and Kensi O’Neal, Rebecca and Benjamin Willoughby; niece and nephew, Deanna Speicher and Donald Moran, plus great nieces and nephews, all of Illinois; and many friends. |
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and step-mother Ramona.
