Interment: Buda Cemetery south of Beeler, Kansas.

Phil D. Prose, 70, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at his home in rural Lane County. He was born on the family farm on November 10, 1939, the youngest of seven children, the son of Fillmore and Myrtle Schryer Prose. Phil has been a lifetime resident of Lane County, Kansas. In 1958 he graduated high school from the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. Phil was a farmer and rancher, and he also worked 23 years for KDOT. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dighton and a former member and past president of the Dighton Lions Club. Phil enjoyed playing cards especially 10 point and 6 point pitch. He enjoyed nature, reading, listening to music, especially southern gospel and his cow and calf herd. On December 22, 1968, Phil married Jean Moletor in Kinsley. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Roberta French and her husband Brett of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a son, Aaron Prose of Washington, DC; a sister, Phyllis Pearce of Pinedale, Wyoming; two brothers, Kale Prose of Davis, Oklahoma and Max Prose of Beeler,Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bessie Marie Moeckel and two brothers, Charles Prose and Bob Prose.

After the inurnment, there will be a time of fellowship with the family at the United Methodist Church in Beeler.
