Visitation: 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 3, 2009 and from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Friday, December 4, 2009 , at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin, Kansas.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 05, 2009 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin, Kansas with Father Mike Helms as celebrant.
Interment: Holly Cemetery in Holly, Colorado.

A vigil service and rosary will take place at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 4, 2009 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin, Kansas.

Romelia Magallanes, 71, of Lakin, Kansas died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born on November 6, 1938 in Chihuahua, Mexico the daughter of Eustacio and Cristina (Orosco) Lozano. Romelia was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. She attended school in Chihuahua and married Pedro Magallanes. Romelia and Pedro lived in Mexico until 1980 when they relocated to Holly, Colorado. She was a homemaker. In 1992 Romelia moved to Lakin, Kansas where she would remain. Romelia loved spending time and taking care of her grandchildren, she enjoyed watching her “Novelas” and sewing. She loved all her family and will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Survivors include four sons, Manuel Magallanes of Denver, Colorado, Ramon Magallanes of Pampa, Texas, Jose Magallanes of Holly, Colorado and Victor Magallanes of Lakin, Kansas; five daughters, Cruzstella Dorado of Chihuahua, Mexico, Rosa Ornelas, Carmen Ramirez, Sally Garcia and Liz Magallanes all of Lakin, Kansas; three brothers; three sisters; 42 grandchildren several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Gloria Lizeth and Cristina Magallanes.
