Wallace H. Kuhlman, age 89, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kansas. He was born June 4, 1920 in Kearny County the son of Charles Ludwig and Marie Olga (Bloedorn) Kuhlman.

Wallace was a 1939 graduate of Lakin High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to Kearny County after his discharge and was a life long farmer-stockman. He married Ruth O. Coerber on October 5, 1945 in Deerfield, Kansas. Wallace was a past member of the Lakin School Board and a member of Immanual Lutheran Church of Lakin.

Survivors include two sons, Grady Kuhlman and wife Kaye of Garden City, Kansas, Mark Kuhlman and wife Tina of Dayton, Nevada; four daughters, Sheri Stansbury and husband Frank of New Orleans, Louisiana, Trudy Ginest and husband Melvin of Powell, Wyoming, Kathy Mayer and husband David of Powell, Wyoming, Sandy Calkins and husband Tom of Lakin, Kansas; one brother, Earl Kuhlman of Springfield, Missouri; 27 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren.

Wallace is preceded in death by his parents, wife on September 23, 2002, one daughter, Becky Whetstone, one brother, Ervin Kuhlman and a granddaughter.
