Destal Lee Tyler, 60 of Garden City, Kansas died Friday, December 19, 2009 at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on June 13, 1949 in Sweet Home, Oregon the son of William and Junella (Ingle) Tyler. |
Destal attended and graduated from Holly High School in Holly, Colorado in 1967. After high school Destal married Elaine Smith in 1967. Destal and Elaine started in Idaho where he attended Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. In 1968 Destal relocated to Wyoming where he worked for Peter Kewitt Construction for five years before moving to Tribune, Kansas and becoming owner and operator of Tyler Water Well Business for 36 years. In 1994 Destal moved to Garden City, Kansas where he would remain. On September 4, 2000 he married Laurie Staats-Ryland in Las Vegas, Nevada. Destal enjoyed wood working, playing the guitar and the piano, camping, traveling, telling stories, being an airplane pilot and he spent time going hunting and fishing. He loved living life to the fullest. Destel was a member of Cornerstone Church and Kansas Ground Water Association. |
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Trevor Tyler of Lewisville, Nebraska and Clint Tyler of Sawyer, Kansas; two brothers, Arlin Kayle Tyler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Ardee Verlon Tyler of Fairview, Oklahoma; two sisters, Wilva Milena VanGuilder of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Tova Delcee Jacobs of Syracuse, Kansas; and 11 grandchildren. |
He was preceded in death by his parents. |
