Geneva Elizabeth Hale, age 95, of Johnson, Kansas, passed away December 27, 2009, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson, Kansas. She was born August 2, 1914 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the daughter of George and Emma Coombes. Her family moved to Kansas when she was fourteen years of age. She attended Manter High School. |
Geneva married Hal Hale November 14, 1931. They were married sixty-seven years before Hal passed away in October 1998. To this union were born two daughters Wiletta (Sally) and Ruth. Hal and Geneva farmed and worked many years in Stanton County. They shared their home with younger brothers and nieces and nephews. |
Geneva was a beautiful seamstress. The garments she made for her daughters and grandchildren were perfection. She also sewed for many others and was very generous with her talents. She was always very busy with farm work and always had a sewing project going as well.
Hal and Geneva retired to South Texas but always came home for Christmas. Each year they visited friends and relatives in Alaska, Oklahoma, Missouri and Colorado. In later years they moved home to Stanton County.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and a brother.
