Irene B. Tregellas was called home to be with her Lord on December 28, 2009 at the age of 85 years after a short illness. She was born September 20, 1924 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was the third daughter of five daughters born to Ulysses S. Childs and Ella Sprouse.

During her childhood, Irene lived in numerous towns across Kansas, her father being a minister. Her strong faith had deep roots in her life. On April 11, 1942 she married Richard Tregellas. Five children were born to this union. Irene loved to travel and was fortunate enough to make many memorable trips. Two months in Africa in 2004 with her granddaughter Tammie teaching crochet to Africans was a highlight of her life. She was an avid crafter. After her retirement from the Post Office in 1985, she and Richard moved to Yuma, Arizona.

She is survived by her children Dennis Tregellas and wife Jan, Linda Thompson and husband Jack both of Elkhart, Kansas; and Lon Tregellas of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, Steve and Tammie Tregellas, Jason and Kim Tregellas, David and Julie Thompson, and five great-grandchildren, Logan and Ethan Tregellas, Alexa, Nova Rain, and Stone Thompson.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband; daughter Barbara Kay; son James Richard; parents; four sisters, Evelyn Screen, Theda Ivy, Betty Plumb, and Peggy Johnson.
