Patsy Dolores Brown, age 78, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born June 6, 1931 in Lakin, Kansas the daughter of Don Cleo and Frances Orinda (Coons) Swisher.

Patsy attended school in Weskan and graduated from high school there. She was a 1952 graduate of the St. Catherine Hospital School of Nursing in Garden City. On October 19, 1952 she married Kyle Robert Brown in Garden City, Kansas. She worked at St. Catherine Hospital before moving to Dighton in 1959. Patsy was actively involved in her husband’s farming operations, but when the Lane County Hospital was completed she began working there. In the spring of 1977 Patsy became the Lane County Health Nurse. She held that position until retiring in the mid 1980’s. Patsy enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She loved playing card games. Patsy was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dighton.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Brown of Liberal, Kansas, Roger and Brenda Brown of Platteville, Colorado; two daughters, Cinnamon and Jeffrey Hawks of Denver, Colorado, Debbie Heim of Scott City, Kansas; one brother, Don Swisher of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Donita Hickman of Dighton, Kansas; five grandsons; three granddaughters; two great grandsons; and four great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kyle on November 16, 1976; one brother; Robert Swisher and a daughter-in-law, Marsha Brown.
