Alice A. Albers, 82 of Garden City, Kansas died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born May 5, 1927 in Dodge City, Kansas the daughter of R.D. & Ethel (Seward) Showers. |
Alice has been a lifetime resident of Southwest Kansas and Southeast Colorado. She attended school in Syracuse, Kansas and graduated from Syracuse High School in the mid 1940’s. On June 15, 1946, Alice married Frederick F. Albers in Garden City, Kansas. They moved to Garden City from Tribune in 1957. They have lived in Garden City since. A homemaker, Alice enjoyed crocheting, knitting, canning, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. |
Survivors include three sons, Rick Albers of Garden City, Kansas, Randy Albers of Placerville, California, James Albers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; four daughters, Ethel Heady of Garden City, Kansas, Roxie Pitts of Garden City, Kansas, Ann Smith of Garden City, Kansas, Jane Johnson of Garden City, Kansas; two sisters, Mary Woodward of Bremerton, Washington, Emogene Walkinshaw of Bremerton, Washington; 24 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. |
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick who died on July 17, 1998. She is also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. |
