Louvae was born in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Walter H. and Verna Mae (Appl) Krenzel. She grew up in Leoti, Kansas and graduated from Wichita County High School. She married James C. Owens, Jr. on August 6, 1956 in Clovis, New Mexico. She was a Receptionist/Clerk for Kamen Supply in Garden City. Louvae moved from Garden City, Kansas to Ulysses, Kansas in 2007. Louvae enjoyed reading, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress making all of her daughters wedding dresses. Survivors include four daughters: Rikki Gilbert of Knoxville, Tennessee, Joya Piland of Grand Junction, Colorado, Stacy Reyes of Knoxville, Tennessee, Joni Kreutzer of Ulysses, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Louvae is preceded in death by her parents; husband James; and one brother, Irvin Krenzel.
