Wednesday morning, February 17, 2010, the world lost a champion…. a true model of courage and inspiration. Myrna Joan Rebarchek, age 72, died peacefully after a short but courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Amazing, regardless of how she felt, while enduring brutal chemo and radiation treatments when asked how she was doing, she would consistently respond, “I’m doing just fine, how are you doing?” She would often reflect on life’s challenges and the mutual joy, and reward of the past. It was clear to her, and others that she wasn’t long for this world, yet she remained to be incredibly upbeat, and savored every moment of life. She will always be loved and truly missed. We look forward to seeing her again on resurrection day, “well done thy good and faithful servant”. |
Myrna was born January 28, 1938 in Alamota, Kansas to Fred and Lydia Roehl. She was the youngest of 17 children. |
She married George D. Rebarchek on November 17, 1956. He survives. Together they had five children: four sons, Roger Rebarchek, Larry and Ann Rebarchek, Bruce and Sherri Rebarchek, Jack and Jamie Rebarchek; one daughter, Tena and Ken Stoppel. She was a proud and loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Angie VonFeldt, Leslie Robertson, Eric Westbrook, Nathan Rebarchek, Raelea Rebarchek, Zach Rebarchek, Jack A. Rebarchek, Addison Rebarchek, Riley Rebarchek, Daria Stoppel, Brooke Cherry and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Daniel Roehl; and seven sisters, Emma Johnson, Shelley Kuninobu, Viola Williams, Adeline Riffel, Ruth March, Lydia Spies and Helen Hartley. |
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Dave, Solomon, Simon (Pete), Raymond , Albert Roehl; three sisters, Pauline Wagner, Elsie Wiechen and Ida Smith. |
The family requests that memorials be given to Harry Hynes Hospice or Victory in the Valley in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, PO Box 891, Dighton, KS 67839. |
