Hattie W. Porterfield, age 102, of Garden City, Kansas died Monday, February 22, 2010 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born October 20, 1907 in Pendleton, Oregon the daughter of Osee B. and Anna Elizabeth (Whitebread) Mason.

Hattie moved with her family to Santa Monica, California in 1923. She married Bill Porterfield, Sr. in 1926 at Santa Monica, California. In 1931 she and her husband moved to Fowler, Colorado. In Fowler she was the site manager for the Senior Center for over 11 years and retired in 1990 at the age of 83. She then moved to Garden City. Hattie enjoyed crocheting, candy making, cooking, canning, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Hattie is survived by one son, Bill Porterfield and wife Jackie of Garden City, Kansas; one grandson, Bob Porterfield and wife Marylin of Garden City, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Dustin and Shana Porterfield Tabor of Garden City, Kansas, Shelly Porterfield of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Clary Porterfield of Liberty, Missouri; two great-great-granddaughters, Taryn Tabor of Garden City, Kansas, and Taylee Tabor of Garden City, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1981, four sisters, and one brother.
