Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m.,Tuesday, March 02, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Wayne Flanders and Reverend John Teeter officiating.
Interment: Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas.

Mary Althea (Katie) Teeter, age 85, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born June 22, 1924 in Stevens County, Kansas, the daughter of Perry and Caroline (Inscho) Campbell.

Katie grew up in Hugoton and graduated from Hugoton High school in 1944. After her marriage to Melvin D. Teeter in Hugoton on January 20, 1945 she moved to rural southeast Grant county and then to Ulysses in 1978. Katie was a farmwife and also worked along side Melvin in the fields. Melvin and Katie were married for 57 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Moscow and Ulysses, United Methodist Women, a former Grange Member, and a former member of the Moscow School Board. Katie had worked at Gish’s, The Hutch and Porter’s Drug Store. She enjoyed attending the senior dances, and was active at the Grant County Senior Center and exercise class.

Survivors include four sons, Earl and wife Lonna, of Ulysses, Kansas, Kenneth and wife Chloe, of Ulysses, Kansas, Monty and wife Becky of Johnson, Kansas, Darrell and wife Lanette of Ulysses, Kansas; honorary son and daughter, Marvin and Pam Meile of Ulysses, Kansas; four sisters, Hazel Kolb, and Verda Sullivan both of Hugoton, Kansas, June Lahey of Moscow, Kansas, Joy West of Hugoton, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Katie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin on October 8, 2002; three brothers, Wade Campbell, John Campbell, Curt Campbell; one sister, Dorothy Thornberry; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Grant County Senior Center or the First United Methodist Church both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
