Laura Loraine Farmer Kessler, age 50, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Niagara Falls, New York. She was born January 12, 1960 in Twin Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Donald M. Farmer and the former Sylvia Ann Colgin. |
Lora spent her earliest life in Idaho, and then following a brief time in Colorado she came to Hugoton, Kansas with her family in 1962. Lora was married to John Rowden in 1975. To his marriage was born one son, Jeremy Scott Rowden. Jeremy and his wife Jennifer presently live in Haggerstown, Maryland. Lora moved to Colorado where she met and married Art Betts. One daughter, Natasha Betts, was born to this union. She survives in Colorado. During her years in Colorado, Laura served as animal control officer in the city of Lamar. Her compassionate heart for homeless or abandoned dogs established a lifetime pattern of making a home for those fortunate enough to go home with her. She always had several and loved every one of them. Laura and her children spent several years in Niagara Falls, New York then she returned to Colorado where she met Martin Kessler. They were married in the spring of 1998 in Canon City, Colorado. She owned and operated Laura's Knick Knacks, a christian bookstore and gift shop in Canon City, Colorado for several years. When Laura's health was at risk they moved back to obtain treatment for cancer. She fought a long hard battle with that, lasting more than seven years. That battle is over now. Rest in comfort, Laura. |
