Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas


Survivors: Maxine is survived by one son; Steve Quakenbush of Garden City, Kansas, two daughters; Julie A. Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, Lisa Krueger of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, two sisters; Jean Mathews of Garden City, Kansas and Beth Millsap of Garden City, Kansas, and three granddaughters.


Maxine, daughter of Samuel G. and Jennie Grace (Butler) Bailey, lived as a young child in Centerview, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Colorado Springs, Colorado before her family moved to Garden City in 1929. She was a 1935 graduate of Garden City High School and attended Garden City Community College. She worked at Bullards Electrical Supply, Sweet Briar Clothing Store and other retail stores before becoming the Records Clerk at St. Catherine Hospital. After her children were born she became a homemaker. She was active in the Garfield Elementary School PTA and was a volunteer for the Finney County United Way. She enjoyed her books on tape and family activities. Maxine was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City, Kansas and Low Vision Support Group.


Friends may meet at Garnand Funeral Home by 2:30 P.M. to process to cemtery.
