Obituary for Marsha H. Young

Marsha H. Young, 66 died Friday, December 9, 2016 at her home in Garden City. She was born July 26, 1950 in Garden City the daughter of Claude W. & Alma (Nease) Robinson.
Marsha Moved with her family to Chapola, Mexico as a young child. After living in Mexico for a few years, they returned to Garden City. Marsha attended school in Mexico and Garden City. After graduating from Garden City High School she attended and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in education. She lived in Liberal, Kansas from the early 1980’s to 1989 where she worked as a nurses aid for Southwest Medical Center. She returned to Garden City in 1989 and continued working as a nurses aid at Garden Valley Retirement Village where she could take care of her father. Marsha also was a homemaker, and for the last 10 years she worked as a substitute teacher and a para-professional for USD #457 in Garden City. Marsha retired from the school district in September. She enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, the outdoors, and taking care of people.
On February 14, 1988, she married Arland Young in Liberal, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include a son Jeremiah & wife Lily Jones of Lenexa, Kansas; a daughter Shellye Bonham of Dallas, Texas; a step-daughter Jennifer Cardenas of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; a brother Charles Robinson of Hollywood, California; and 4 grandchildren Miette Jones, Tristen Jones, Jadan Vongrasmy, and Jordan Vongrasmy. Marsha is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City Rev. Marty Moyer officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to service time on Wednesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family request memorials given to the American Legion, Post #9 in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
