Obituary for Jerry Valentine

Syracuse- Jerry Valentine, 78, died on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on April 19, 1939 in Syracuse the son of Joe & Opal Mae (Hazelton) Valentine. He married Vicki S. Cole on May 1, 2005 at Syracuse.

Jerry graduated from Syracuse High School and was a lifetime resident of Hamilton County. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. After his discharge he drove a cattle truck for Valentine Trucking. He then went to work for Wheatland Electric as a Journeyman Lineman and retired as the Line Foreman after 37 years of service. He enjoyed his horses, rodeos, sports, watching the Pioneer Woman Cooking Show, feeding his quail, shooting bb’s at the blackbirds, good homemade vanilla ice cream and supervising farm activities.

He is survived by his Wife Vicki Valentine of the Home, Son- Steven Alan & Andrea Valentine of North Richland Hills, Texas, 2 Step-Sons- Jason & Rene Cole of Syracuse & Kent Bless of Dallas, Texas, Step-Daughter- Brandy Cole of Syracuse, Sister- Ruth Reveile of Austin, Texas, 9 Grandchildren & 4 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter- Heather Jo Burrows, Step-Son- Danny Valentine & 5 Brothers- Tommy Valentine, Raymond Valentine, Richard Valentine, Norman Valentine & Curtis Valentine.

Graveside Service will be at 11:00 AM MDT at the Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse with Rev Dane Hernandez officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard and American Legion District 6 Honor Guard. Calling hours will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Monday at the Southern Baptist Church in Syracuse.
