Obituary for Elma Jean "Jeannie" Bennett

Garden City- Elma Jean “Jeannie” Bennett, 79, died on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. She was born on April 19, 1938 in Haskell County the daughter of Johnnie & Venna E. (Blocher) Holmes, Sr. She married Donald E. Bennett in 1957 at Deerfield. He died on October 1, 2009.

Jeanie attended country schools in Haskell County and graduated from Garden City High School. She was a homemaker and mother and also had worked at Dimitt’s Nursery after her marriage and did Day Care out of her home. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and watching Wheel Of Fortune.

She is survived by her Son- Jody Eugene Bennett of Garden City, Daughter- Audrey Burke of Junction City, Brother- Johnnie Holmes, Jr. of Garden City, Sister- Erma Faulconer of Garden City, 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, 2 Sons- Anthony Marshall Bennett & Troy Kent Bennett, Sister- Lenora M. Johnson & 3 Brothers- Clyde Holmes, Donald Holmes & Aubrey Holmes.

Graveside Service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Garnand Funeral Home.
