Obituary for George Wehkamp

George Wehkamp, 63, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Garden City, Kansas. He was born February 8, 1955 in Kingman, Kansas the son of Wilfred & Florence (Jacobs) Wehkamp.
George moved with his family from Waterloo, Kansas to a farm North of Ingalls, Kansas in 1959. He attended Theoni School in Rural Finney County and later attended and graduated from Ingalls High School. George moved to Garden City in 1976 and has lived in Garden City since. On February 14, 1981, he married Brenda D. Witman in Garden City. George has worked as an owner and operator of Wehkamp Excavating, Inc. since 1976. He enjoyed building and engineering things out of metal, especially cannons. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, going to the lake with his family, and riding his Harley Davidson.
Survivors include his wife Brenda D. Wehkamp of the home; two sons Jeremy & wife Rachel Wehkamp of Garden City and Jonathan Wehkamp of Garden City; a daughter Jennifer Wehkamp of Brooklyn, New York; two sisters Carol Bergen of Garden City and Marietta Seba of Garden City; five brothers Ted Wehkamp of Garden City, Ed Wehkamp of Garden City, Bob Wehkamp of Ingalls, Kansas, Arnie Wehkamp of Colby, Kansas, and Dan Wehkamp of Ingalls, Kansas; four grandchildren Lukas Miller, Felicity Miller, Liam Miller, and Aletheia Miller; and many nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rosemary Reimer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Pastor Scott Rosen and Pastor Ryan Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to the Ingalls High School Alumni Association or to Bible Christian Church both in care of the funeral home.
