Obituary for Jesus M. "Jesse" Aguilera

Jesus M. “Jesse” Aguilera, 92, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born December 10, 1925 in Deerfield, Kansas the son of Merced & Josefina (Munoz) Aguilera.
Jesse grew up in Deerfield and attended Deerfield Grade School. He later served in the United State Marine Corp during WWII from 1944 to 1946. After the service he moved to Garden City where he as lived since. Jesse was a self-employed painter where he was owner and operator of Jesse Aguilera Painting. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Garden City; the American Legion; and the VFW. He enjoyed his work as a painter and he loved spending time with his family.
On August 18, 1949, he married Justina Mora in Garden City. She died on October 13, 1989. Jesse is also preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn son Jesus Aguilera, Jr.; a daughter Barbara Ann Redin; two brothers; two sisters; and a grandson.
Survivors include two daughters Geraldine Aguilera of Olathe, Kansas and Irene Shumate of Garden City, Kansas; his companion Marilyn Ornelas of Garden City; a sister Lupe Alcaraz of Dodge City, Kansas; two Granddaughters; two Grandsons; one Step-Granddaughter; seven Great-Granddaughters; two Great Grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 6 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to the Finney County Museum Education Fund for veterans in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
