Obituary for Betty J. Sterling

Betty J. Sterling, 88, passed away on Sunday, May 27 at her home. She was born in Independence, KS on September 3, 1929, the daughter of Harold and Lydia (Meyer) Allen.
Betty was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She was an artist at heart; enjoying toll painting, wheat weaving, crocheting, stained glass, wool appliqué and rug hooking. She was an avid reader and volunteered at The Gift Nook at St. Catherine Hospital. She dearly loved spending time in the Colorado Mountains, especially at their cabin in Green Mountain Falls.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin Sterling and wife Janelle, their children Meghan Sterline and Matt (Megan) Sterling; Steve Sterling and wife Melodie, their children Jessica (Eric) Hanson and Wesley (Sydnee) Sterling and Kelsey Sterling; Jeff Sterling and wife Mary, their children Tyson and Chase Sterling; one daughter Melinda Sterling-Stewart and her son Alec Stewart; and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wesley Sterling, her son Mark, and her brother Jack Allen.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at Garnand Funeral Home with Father Don Martin officiating. A private family interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to The Finney County Library in care of the funeral home.
