Obituary for Antonia Gallardo Laurelez

Antonia Gallardo Laurelez, 78, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at her home in Garden City. She was born January 17, 1940 in San Fermin, Hidalgo, Mexico the daughter of Alejandro Alvarado & Dominga (Juarez) Gallardo.
Antonia became a citizen of the United States on April 25, 1955. She lived in the Texas Panhandle before moving to Garden City in 1974. She also lived in California for a short period of time. Antonia worked at Oswalts for 10 years, then worked as a life insurance agent for a year while living in California. After moving back to Garden City, she worked at Con-Agri and Monfort for 10 years before becoming an interpreter for St. Catherine Hospital for 17 years. She was a member of the Spanish Assembly of God and enjoyed cooking, sewing, raising her dogs, and spending time with her family.
On January 22, 1961, she married The Rev. Cruz Ramos Molina in Post, Texas. He died on October 12, 1973. She later married Salvador M. Laurelez, Jr. on March 13, 1975 in Garden City. He died on November 8, 2016. Antonia is also preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers Toby Gallardo, Herman Gallardo, and Andrew Gallardo; and 2 sisters Mauricia Hermocillo and Pricilla Ibarra.
Survivors include 4 sons Abel Molina, Cruz Molina, Robert Molina, and Mario Molina all of Garden City; a daughter Dolores & husband Travis Franco-Peve of Valley Center, Kansas; 6 brothers Miguel Gallardo of Meadow, Texas, Nick & wife Anita Gallardo of Garden City, Alex & wife Beatrice Gallardo of Garden City, Joe Gallardo of Rapid City, South Dakota, Pete & wife Anna Gallardo of South Carolina, and Art & wife Dianne Gallardo of Palm Bay, Florida; 2 Grandchildren Ashley Paige Thomas and Abel Cruz Dietl Molina; and a Great-Grandchild Haidan Cruz Molina.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Gerry Dupuis officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
