Obituary for Marceline L. (Lefort) McVey

Marceline Louise (Lefort) McVey, 103, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City. She was born November 12, 1914 near Concordia (Jamestown), Kansas the daughter of Charles & Eva Kate (Swanson) Bombardier.
Marceline moved with her family to the Garden City area when she was 1 year old, where they lived on a farm in Finney County. She attended Garden City schools. A homemaker, Marceline also worked at Wall’s Foodliner for several years. She has been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church since 1932 and she enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center, yard work, crocheting, and her 2 birds were her every day company.
On July 23, 1932, she married Admer R. Lefort in Garden City. He died on March 25, 1976. She later married William McVey in 1981. William died on February 16, 1996. Marceline is also preceded in death by her parents; a son Charles Lefort; a brother Ronell Bombardier; and 2 Grandsons.
Survivors include five daughters Phyllis Prouty of Hesston, Kansas, Vivian Cranston of Salina, Kansas, Louise Buell of Garden City, Kansas, Judy & husband Ronald Tincher of Olathe, Kansas, and Mary K. & husband Bill Flanary of Kingland, Texas; a Daughter-In-Law Gloria Lefort of Miltonvale, Kansas; 21 Grandchildren; 35 Great-Granchildren; and 23 Great Great-Grandchildren.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
