Juanita Esquivel, 67, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born September 10, 1950 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Robert L. & Ramona (Ortega) Rodriguez.
Juanita grew up as a child in Lakin where she attended school. In the mid 1960’s, she moved with her family to Garden City where she has lived since. She graduated from Garden City High School. Juanita has worked for many years as office manager for Harvest America. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and she enjoyed playing bingo, watching Soap Opera’s, her birds, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include 5 children Jennifer Arellano, Jessica Arellano, Joseph E. Arellano III, Galicia Esquivel, & Anaben Esquivel all of Garden City; her mother Ramona Rodriguez of Garden City; 3 brothers Joseph Rodriguez of Pittsburg, PA, Daniel Rodriguez and James Rodriguez both of Garden City; 4 sisters Anita Gallardo, Cecilia Ortiz, Marie Rodriguez, & Lucinda Archuleta all of Garden City; and 10 Grandchildren Sergio Rodriguez, Jr., Emilio Rodriguez, Ezeckial Rodriguez, Cecilia Pena, Brianna Arellano, Joseph E. Arellano VI, Analiese Pena, Laila Jo Arellano, Gabriel Arellano, & Eihanaie Rodriguez. Juanita is preceded in death by her father Robert L. Rodriguez; and 2 brothers Robert Rodriguez, Jr. and Martin Rodriguez.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. on 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family request memorials given to the Juanita Esquivel Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
