Obituary for Warren Dean "Doc" Elliott

Warren Dean “Doc” Elliott, 83, died Friday, August 10, 2018 at his home in Lakin, Kansas. He was born June 25, 1935 in Lakin the son of Ralph & Esther (McVey) Elliott.
Doc has lived most of his life in Lakin. He attended Lakin schools and graduated from Lakin High School in 1955. He worked for 46 years at the Farmer’s Co-op in Lakin, mostly driving a fuel delivery truck. He retired in 2006. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Watershed board, the Farmer’s Credit Union, and the Lakin City Council. Doc enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his banjo, coaching baseball for all kids, teaching his granddaughter to drive, and spending time with his family.
On May 3, 1958, he married Kay Cole in Lakin, and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. She survives. Other survivors include a brother Lawrence Elliott of Loyal, Oklahoma and a Daughter-In-Law Madeline Elliott of Lakin. Warren is preceded in death by his parents; 3 sons Bob Elliott, Bill Elliott, and Brad Elliott; 2 grandchildren Catherine Marie Elliott and Bryan Lee Elliott; and a brother Loren Elliott.
A Vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 also at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Tran and Fr. Mike Helms as Celebrants. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. The family suggests memorials given to the Catherine and Bryan Elliott Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Funeral Home.
