Obituary for Dick Edward Panzner


Dighton- Richard Edward “Dick” Panzner, 84, died on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his home in Lane County. He was born on May 4, 1934 at East Islip, New York the son of Emil & Heddy (Schuchert) Panzner. He married Kathryn Ann Keith on January 27, 1962 at Clayton, New Mexico.

Dick grew up in the Long Island area of New York and Salem, Massachusetts. He moved to Arnold when he was 16 years old. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge he moved to Lane County and began his Professional Rodeo career while also working for area farmers and stockman Maurice Freeman, Dwight Stanley & Dwight Terwilliger. He was a bronc rider until he was 35 years old and then started team roping for many years. In 1965 he started buying, selling & hauling hay and in 1974 added baling equipment. He was a member of the Rodeo Cowboys Association. Dick enjoyed attending rodeos and his coffee discussions with his farmer friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents and 8 Brothers and Sisters.

He is survived by his Wife- Kathy Panzner of the home, 2 Sons- Anson Panzner of Dighton and Ty Panzner of Jetmore, 9 Grandchildren & 3 Great-Grandchildrfen.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday September 5 at the United Methodist Church in Dighton with Rev Berniece Ludlum officiating. Military services will be by the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to Scott City Animal Rescue or St Catherine Hospice in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
