Obituary for John Robert "Johnny" Burns

John Robert "Johnny" Burns
Lakin- John Robert “Johnny Burns, Jr., 63, died on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Baptist St. Anthonys Health System in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on July 18, 1955 at Hereford, Texas the son of John Robert & Patsy Jane (Townsend) Burns, Sr.

Johnny attended high school in Hereford, Texas. He spent his early years playing baseball and football as well as fine tuning his love of music. Football would be a lifelong love affair with the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys.

Johnny worked as a Mill Operator for Farr Better Feeds after many years in the oilfield industry. He found a new passion for life after having his three children. Johnny enjoyed slowing his love of the outdoors with his children. Johnny’s life took a different path after a horrific motor vehicle accident in 1991 left him with a traumatic brain injury as well as physical disabilities. He dealt with this disability for many years with an internal joy and lots of laughter. Family and friends have spent hours with Johnny laughing at his antics. He lived in the moment and could always find happiness. This was a true blessing to his family as his health issues became more problematic. Johnny could be found out and about with his sister Paula. They would be at family functions, traveling and when Johnny was in charge of the plans heading to the casino. He was always ready to go and didn’t really care where they were going as long as they were going. His true passion at the end of his life was his Granddaughters.
