Obituary for Marjorie Elliott

Marjorie Elliott, 96, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born on March 25, 1922 in Seward County, Kansas to Ralph and Margaret Rinehart. Marjorie attended public school in Kismet and graduated in 1940. She married Eugene Fletcher in Meade, Kansas on July 27, 1940. He passed away on January 10, 1961. She married Dorsey Elliott in Sublette, Kansas on September 20, 1962. He passed away on January 14, 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City, Builders Sunday School Class, UMW, Circle, and Godmothers.

She is survived by a step-son, Dennis Elliott and wife Julie of Arlington, Texas; a step-daughter, Diane Blunt and husband Bill of Vicksburg, Michigan; son-in-law Jack Dufield of Liberal, Kansas; a brother-in-law Joe Baier of Kismet, Kansas; a sister Verabelle Wallace of Aurora, Colorado; and a brother Jack Rinehart of Kismet, Kansas.

She has nine grandchildren, David, Kevin & Russell Fitzgerald, Joshua and Beth Blunt, Kristin Kirkland, Craig Elliott, Marlo Fletcher, and Belinda Tucker.

She was proud of her 9 grandchildren; 2 engineers, 2 doctors, 2 pastors, and 3 great moms.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, a son Jerry Fletcher; a daughter Janice Fitzgerald-Dufield; and a sister Deloris Baier.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. Joel Plisek officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Meade, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Godmothers, or a charity of your choice all in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
