Obituary for Margaret A. Williams

Garden City- Margaret A. Williams, 92, died on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born on January 3, 1927 at Manhattan, New York the daughter of Patrick Joseph & Helen (Lahey) Dunne. She married Darrell Gibbons on January 23, 1943 in New York City, New York. She later married Raymond Ray Williams on January 13, 1964 at Lakin. He died on November 29, 2004.

Margaret was raised and attended school in New York. While there she worked at Horn and Hardert Deli and later as an Aide at Sloan Kettering Hospital where she once took care of Babe Ruth and received several signed baseballs. She moved to Garden City and was Head Housekeeper at Wheatlands Motel and later Holiday Motel. After her second marriage she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed fishing, her pet dogs and cooking, especially cooking traditional holiday meals and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Son- Kenneth Gibbons, 2 Brothers- John Patrick Dunne and William Anthony Dunne and Sister- Maureen Elizabeth Wells.

She is survived by her children- Robert “Bob” (Theresa) Williams of Garden City. Deborah Williams of Lawrence, Kevin Dunne of Garden City, Step-Daughter- Connie Naab of Garden City & 1 Granddaughter.

Graveside service will be at 1:30 PM on Friday at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Rev Warren Stecklein officiating. Memorials are suggested to Margaret Williams Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
