Obituary for Cynthia D. "Cindy" Garcia
Cynthia D. “Cindy” Garcia, 50, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born February 24, 1968 in Garden City the daughter of Pete M. & Candie (Blea) Garcia.
Cindy grew up in Garden City where she attended Valentine School. She lived in Valley Center, Kansas for a year while attending Technical School. She returned to Garden City and has lived here since. Cindy worked various jobs in retail sales in Garden City. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Garden City; she participated in Special Olympics, and in 1978 she participated in track events at the National Special Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Cindy enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, crafts, drawing, visiting with people, traveling and watching the Golden Girls on TV.
Survivors include 6 siblings Deb Maestas of Garden City, Marc (Pat) Garcia of Twin Falls, Idaho, JoAnn (Rod) Farnsworth of Pahrump, Nevada, Gary (Sandy) Garcia of Hooker, Oklahoma, Patrick (Anita) Garcia of Garden City, & Sally (Marty) Swaim of Dodge City, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. Cindy is preceded in death by her father Pete Garcia.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to Noon Wednesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to St. Mary School or the Finney County Humane Society both in care of the funeral home.
