Obituary for Lucila Ibarra

Lucila Ibarra, 80, died Sunday February 24, 2019 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born January 7, 1939 in Poblado de Pena, Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Margarito Ibarra and Maria De Los Angeles Diaz.

Lucila attended school in Mexico but spent the majority of her life in El Paso, Texas before moving to Garden City 7 years ago to be closer to family. A devout Catholic, she enjoyed attending church at a variety of parishes in both Juarez and El Paso. She was a hard worker and made sure her only child, Eleazar was well cared, even in her absence. He will forever be grateful for the many sacrifices she made for him. In her later years she was able to enjoy spoiling her grandchildren with gifts and her presence. Most recently she was in the gentle and wonderful care of her daughter-in-law, Guadalupe, son, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents & Siblings-Maria Ibarra, Emilio Ibarra, and Julian Ibarra.

Survivors include her son and his wife- Eleazar & Guadalupe Ibarra of Garden City, Granddaughters- Maricela Janas, Rosio Ibarra & Janet Ibarra, Great Grandchildren- Aiden Janas, Breanna Espino, & Evelyn Janas and Siblings- Vicenta Ibarra, Jose Ibarra, Sabino Ibarra, Adolfo Ibarra, Jesus Ibarra, Emma Ibarra, & Gloria Ibarra and numerous nieces and nephews.


Vigil Service will be 6:00 pm Wednesday February 27, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City and Funeral Mass will be 1:00 pm Thursday February 28, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Juan Salas as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Friends may call from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Wednesday February 27, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home.
