Obituary for Jean A. Dunnam

Jean A. Dunnam, 78, died Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Ranch House Health & Rehabilitation in Garden City. She was born April 27, 1940 in Holcomb, Kansas the daughter of Jacob & Blanche Laura (Weigel) Quint.

Jean grew up in a farm outside of Holcomb. She attended Holcomb schools and graduated from Holcomb High School. Jean then lived in Garden City, Dodge City, and Liberal before moving back to Garden City in 1991. She has lived in Garden City since. She worked as a legal secretary for an attorney and at High Plains Journal. She later worked as a caregiver for various people in Garden City. On June 7, 1968, she married Gary Dunnam in Seward County, Kansas. Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberal where she served as a Deaconess, and served as a Sunday School teacher and sponsored classes for singles and young married couples for many years. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, cooking, caring for others, animals and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son Jared (Tiffany) Dunnam of Liberal, Kansas; a brother Allen Quint of Thornton, Colorado; two sisters Jane Handy of Bakersfield, California and Carol (Charles) Barton of Garden City, Kansas; two grandchildren Auston Dunnam and Bella Dunnam; and many nieces and nephews including Lauretta Richardson of Garden City, Kansas. Jean is preceded in death by her parents and six sisters Louise Wasinger, Rose Burgardt, Mildred McCaslin, Lillian Tatro, Barbara Harrington, & Charlotte Quint.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to St. Catherine Hospice or the Finney County Humane Society both in care of the funeral home.
