Obituary

Gene Paul DuBois, age 87, died March 1, 2019, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born October 21, 1931, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Clinton and Thelma (Krause) DuBois.

Gene graduated from Great Bend High School. He married Betty Anslinger on November 1, 1965, in Clayton, New Mexico. Gene served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Bronze Service Star and Good Conduct Medal. Gene and his brother, Don, operated C.A. DuBois and Sons Sand Pit in Satanta, Kansas, for several years. He then began his long career as an over-the-road truck driver, logging thousands of miles hauling cattle, pigs, fertilizer, milk, and whatever else was asked of him. He made numerous friends during his travels and seemed to find a familiar face wherever he went. He was a very hard-working man who loved his family and loved helping those in need.

Gene is survived by his wife, Betty DuBois of Satanta; brother, Don DuBois and wife Mayme of Norton; sons, Craig DuBois and wife Beverly of Wichita, and Rick DuBois of Bridgeport, Nebraska; daughters, Kaci Pickens and husband Mark of Enid, Oklahoma, Paula Sosa of Hugoton, Jeannetta Adamson of Pampa, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Loper of Canada, Nicci Munter and husband Terry of Bemidji, Minnesota, Joshua DuBois and wife Megan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Michaela Likes and Michael Adamson of Pampa, Texas, Haley Sosa and Riley Sosa of Hugoton, Emma DuBois of Whitman, North Dakota, Zachary DuBois of Beatrice, Nebraska, Dustin Burch of Caney, Amanda Hawn and husband Chris of Phenix City, Alabama, Karli Burch of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Derrick Burch and wife Lynsi of Oologah, Oklahoma, Amber Debo of Norman, Oklahoma; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and many friends.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Thelma DuBois; wife, Dolores Coffee; daughter, Jeana Schuster; and sister, Linda Stringer.

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta, Kansas, and military rites by Ft. Riley Honor Guard and American Legion 8th District Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Gene DuBois Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
