Obituary for Miguel Chavez
Miguel Chavez, 79, died Wednesday May 8, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born September 27, 1939 the son of Miguel & Maria del Refugio Chavez in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico
Mr. Chavez was born in Cuidad Juarez, married the love of his life Socorro Salas in Durango Mexico on September 1, 1959, and finally they moved to Garden City in 2009 to be closer to their children. She preceded him in death on September 27, 2013. He had worked as a cattle pusher at IBP in Cactus Texas. His hobbies included watching the news and reporting it to his family on a daily basis. He was up to date on all the current events and wanted to be sure his family was as well. He was a cowboy at heart with a special love for horses.
In addition to his wife-Socorro Chavez, he was preceded in death by his parents-Miguel and Maria Del Refugio Chavez and children-Leticia Chavez and Alfredo Chavez.
Survivors include his children- Ofelia Jimenez of Salina, Oscar & Olivia Hernandez of Garden City, Salvador & Silvia Chavez of San Antonio, TX, Hortencia Valdez of Amarillo, TX, Jose Antonio Chavez of Midland, TX, Miguel Chavez of Amarillo, TX , Luis & Patricia Flores of Garden City, 26 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren
A Rosary will be held on Saturday May 11, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
Memorials are suggested to the Miguel Chavez Memorial fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
