Dorothy Dee Perry, 85, died Saturday, June 8, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born April 30, 1934 in Rushville, Indiana the daughter of Wallace A. & Nellie (Kerr) Snoddy.
Dorothy grew up in Rushville, Indiana where she attended schools and graduated from high school. On March 31, 1951, she married Morris Eugene Perry in Rushville, Indiana. They lived at Camp Pendleton, California before moving to Escondido, California. After the death of her husband in 2011, Dorothy moved to Garden City in 2012 where she has lived since. Dorothy worked as a waitress and cook, and later became a sales clerk where she worked at Escondido Sales Yard, Ace Hardware, Builder’s Emporium, & Handy Man. She enjoyed plumbing, playing Bingo, crafts, and handy work.
Survivors include three children Dorothy & husband Robert Rottman of Yucipa, California, Rochella “Denise” & husband Jeffery Rapp of Garden City, Kansas, and Michael Perry & companion Anita McGeehee of Colorado; a brother Wade & wife Barbara Snoddy of Greensburg, Indiana; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandson; as well as many others that she had taken under her wings throughout the years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Morris who died on December 31, 2011. She is also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons Walter Ray Perry and Robert Eugene Perry; a sister Darlene Maple; and a great-grandson Dalton Brack.
A family interment will take place at a later date at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. There will be no calling hours. Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City will be handling local funeral arrangements.
