Obituary for Millicent I. "Mimi" Herman

Millicent I. “Mimi” Herman, 79, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born July 10, 1939 in Garden City the daughter of Glenn Robert & Millicent Katherine (Finnup) Corn.

Millicent has been a lifetime resident of Garden City. She attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School. On January 2, 1959, she married William W. “Bill” Herman in Garden City. A homemaker, Millicent was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, T.O.P.S., and a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, and making dolls.

Survivors include three children Lucy Anne Brown of Rose Hill, Kansas, William Robert & wife Kathy Herman of Garden City, and Theodore Edwin & wife Launda Herman of Lathrop, Missouri; a brother Bob Corn of Garden City; two sisters Donna Towns of Garden City and Mary Lou Irsik of Enid, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Millicent is preceded in death by her husband Bill who died on October 5, 2013. She is also preceded in death by her parents and a son John Walter Herman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the American Diabetes Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
